Lead Developer at High Profile Website
A interactive and entertainment company is looking for an experienced software developer to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced, new media environment. The Lead Developer should enjoy challenges and building scalable, high-traffic websites, and working with a small talented team of developers on a number of large high profile websites as well as contribute to a number of internal tools and services. Collectively the sites reach over 15 million users every month.
The software is constantly evolving to accommodate product vision, editorial needs, and user feedback., and the site is continuously growing and improving. Responsibilities will consist of mentoring other developers, interacting with senior management, hacking on the products, participating in code reviews, brainstorming with the product design and management team, and helping tests turn from red to green.
Technologies on our Radar Include:
- Object-oriented design methodology and standard software design patterns
- Configuration and maintenance of a LAMP stack
- Expert level PHP 5 object oriented development
- HTML/CSS/Javascript (JQuery) development skills
- Cross-browser development knowledge and testing
- Caching (memcached)
- CDN
- Logical and physical database design and optimization with MySQL
Qualifications:
• BS in related field with significant related professional experience
• Experience leading or managing a development team
• Experience architecting and maintaining heavily trafficked, highly available production systems
• Experience implementing and enforcing development methodologies and best practices
• Preferred experience includes managing a budget and negotiating contracts with vendors
• Preferred experience includes doing infrastructure planning maintenance
• Fanatical about writing clean, well-commented code
• Knowledge, experience, and appreciation for start-up-type environment
• Ability to manage, inspire and motivate all levels of staff
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to describe technical issues to non-technical individuals
• Thrives in work environments that are flexible, dynamic, fast-paced and change quickly
