The Senior Web Developer is responsible for building new products and supporting existing products on *****.com. Working closely with project stakeholders including editorial, sales, marketing, and business development the Senior Web Developer will build and maintain will develop new and support existing front-end HTML templates, complex JS libraries for UI and PHP templates for high-traffic, industry-leading, online media website

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• ·         Code, test and document HTML templates and assets
• ·          Assist in HTML integration into Vignette CMS focusing on internal best practices and web standards
• ·         Code, test and document PHP and WordPress templates and d
• ·         Develop custom WordPress functionality as needed (provide examples of past experience)
• ·         Code, test and document object-oriented site JS using standard libraries like jQuery as well as shared company libraries and third-party plugins
• ·         Possess a strong knowledge of up-to-date the latest web design and web standards: separation of content from presentation using CSS/text-based layouts including CSS3; cross-browser compatibility techniques; unobtrusive Javascript, DOM-manipulation scripting techniques; SEO strategies and accessibility; AJAX and JSON
• ·         Provide site / code architecture guidance, Make informed site architecture decisions, contribute expertise in developing internal best practices and standards and use and develop expanding global code libraries across sites and environments
• ·         Communicate clearly with the managers and other developers to identify tasks, provide work estimates and ensure production deadlines are met
• ·         Be able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• ·         Be able to work closely with a team and demonstrate eagerness to contribute to a better online experienceEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• ·         4+ years of work experience hand-coding efficient HTML, CSS and JS for high-traffic websites
• ·         Experience Expertise with in PHP required
• ·         Expertise in WordPress themes and plug-ins required

Expertise

• ·         Experience with jQuery and / or other JS libraries required
• ·         Experience with TCL, JSP or other interpreted and / or compiled  scripting; development languages is a plus
• ·         Experience with WordPress a plus
• ·         Good strong knowledge of Photoshop is required for slicing, cutting, optimizing web graphics for speed and performance
• ·         Must be qualified to work in the US and must be able to work in New York City
