Software Developer

Required Skills:
● BS in Computer Science or a related field (or a good reason for not having one).
● 3+ years of experience in Java-based software development.
● Experience in J2EE (Servlets, JSP, JSTL, JDBC, annotations).
● Experience with enterprise software issues (multi-threading, pooling, caching, performance tuning, etc.)
● Experience with at least 1 Java application server (we use Tomcat).
● Knowledge of Object-Oriented principles and MVC architecture.
● Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
● Experience building web sites in a team environment.
● Basic knowledge of SQL and databases (we use Oracle and MySQL).
● Experience with a version control system (SVN, CVS).
● Ability to occasionally help research, review, and configure off-the-shelf software for other departments.

Desired Skills:
● Knowledge in Java frameworks like Spring is a big plus.
● Experience in an IDE such as Eclipse.
● Intermediate or advanced knowledge of SQL and databases.
● Experience with front-end technologies – HTML, JavaScript (JQuery, AJAX), and CSS.
● Knowledge of common design patterns.
● Basic abilities in Linux including scripting (bash, sed, awk).
● Some knowledge of build/deploy tools (ANT, Maven, etc.)
● Some knowledge of testing tools (Dynatrace, JUnit, Selenium, JMeter, etc.)
● Experience developing for mobile devices (iPad, Kindle, iPhone, Android, etc.)
● Experience with XML and Java parsers.
● Experience in an OR mapper such as Hibernate or CPO.

Location: Onsite in Charlotte, NC or Boston, MA
Type: Contract
Duration: 10 months

Duties and Responsibilities
Our client, a leading financial institution, seeks a UI Developer. The responsibilities will include working with a team to develop rich user interfaces for enterprise-level hosted financial applications; constantly driving for consistent user interaction by building cutting-edge UI functionality. In addition, you will be able to clearly communicate your ideas and both openly and honestly provide and receive regular input from your peers. While teamwork is of the utmost in importance, you can also work independently with minimal supervision, and take the initiative to constantly keep yourself engaged. Also, you never settle for second best. You possess a strong focus on quality and attention to detail, and possess the ability to quickly understand and solve unique and even undocumented programming problems. Naturally curious, you have a penchant for and drive to quickly learn and master skills in new technologies.

Proven experience in the following areas (not necessarily in order of importance):
• 5+ years hands-on experience in full development life cycle software development, predominately in User Interface development.
• Hand-coded, W3C-compliant and semantic (X)HTML and CSS with an emphasis on CSS-driven page layouts.
• High level of proficiency with unobtrusive JavaScript (including object-oriented JS), using jQuery or comparable libraries.
• Familiarity with best-practices for usability and accessibility standards.
• Writing high-quality, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Proficiency in a server-side scripting language such as JSP, PHP, or ASP.
• Experience with Perforce, SVN, CVS or other version control system.
• Familiarity with bug-tracking software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any type) or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Desired skills:
• Experience with the integration and use of a third-party JavaScript library such as: jQuery, Prototype, DOJO, etc.
• Experience in creating standalone, JavaScript-based UI widgets.
• Java/J2EE server-side development.
• Experience with banking or financial online applications and/or high traffic eBusiness websites.

REQUIRED:
- 5-7 years HTML, CSS, and JAVA SCRIPT.
- Expert UI Developer (user interface, VERY STRONG, Involved, UI development experience. Large projects strongly preferred)).
- Knowledge specifically in J Querie library.

Experience with tuning web pages to minimize browser load & rendering times
Experience with source control (SVN, Git, CVS, VSS)

My client is looking for a Director of Engineering. This company has a large video community of users who share their experience through video recording. They have delivered over 30 million videos to large companies and social media sites and are looking for someone to lead their Engineering team.

Responsibilities of the job include:
Leading a team of developers
Responsible for the scale that the company grows
Work and manage developers to architect new products and resolve any technology issues that arise
Communicate the status of the of the project to stakeholders, team members and senior management
Improve team productivity
Anticipate and react to technology changes so there is adequate time to solve or mitigate the problem

Requirements of the position include:
4-6 years of managing developers in an agile environment
Experience in technologies such as PhP, SQL, Ajax, Flash
Familiarity with MySQL design and replication
Understanding of API’s and their implementation
Experience managing full lifecycle LAMP projects (Linux – Apache – MySQL – PhP)
Experience with content management concepts
Experience with API’s
Familiarity with the following software packages: Subversion, Bugzilla, Pivotal Tracker, Wiki/Twiki
